081 - What I Did For Father's Day
Today was a wonderful Father's Day which we spent doing all sorts of awesome stuff (including a memorable trip to Zulu's Board Game Cafe in Bothell, and the best danged home-made Greek Fries I've ever had), but THE HIGHLIGHT for me was getting enough time at the computer to help make one of my daughter's dreams come true...
...I made her a YouTube Channel so she can finally be a "YouTuber" :)
She has been BEGGING to do something like this for a few years now, but this is the first time we've really had the time and opportunity and motivation to make some videos. NOW we have a SUMMER PROJECT!
See, Molly has recently discovered *cheeseburgers*. I mean, y'know... like ALL kids, she had always assumed that a Cheeseburger was your plain old kidsmeal "Meat & Bun & Salty Yellow Square of Vaseline" affaire - the thing you had to eat more of before your parents would let you have any more fries. But then one day as we were coming home from a Doctor's Appointment, she said she wanted to know what a REAL Cheeseburger tastes like, with tomato and lettuce and onion and "The Works".
We immediately pulled into a Wendy's Drive thru and ordered a cheeseburger that met her description - and she LOVED IT. She wanted MORE. She wanted to TRY THEM ALL. HOW COULD SHE HAVE MADE ITY THIS FAR IN LIFE WITHOUT KNOWING ABOUT THESE THINGS?!?!?!
And so we decided that over the course of our Summer Vacation, we would go ahead and make a quest out of this - who has the best cheeseburger in the greater Seattle area???
Rules were determined: No sit-down restaurants (Red Robin, Denny's, Etc), only COUNTER SERVICE burger joints - the places where you go up to a guy and order your burger. Narrow the field to ONE DOZEN PLACES (since originally we had thought we would do a different cheeseburger every day). Each burger joint gets whatever is the closest to a "Deluxe" Cheeseburger as possible (Lettuce, Tomato and Onion at the least) and an order of fries.
We'll be judging the burgers "Top Gear Style", in that there will be a board on which we put the names of the restaurants and rank each new burger based on where it belongs in the order on the board. EXAMPLE: Burger King goes between Wendy's (the top) and Fatburger (the bottom), which are both already on the board. Next time, we judge that the Jumbo Jack is a bit better than Burger King, so it now goes between BK and Wendy's. Continue till all 12 are on the board.
Molly is SUPER EXCITED and would appreciate it if you would go hit "Like" and "Subscribe" on her video, please :)
