Proudest moment as an Uncle/Godfather

We had my 10-year-old Niece, Brittany, spend the night with us on Friday night, and she verbally outwitted me. I am so proud!

See, I have this habit. When anyone starts out a conversation with a line like "You know what I really hate?", I like to fill in the blank for them. After all, they ARE asking me a question, right? So I try to answer. Usually, it will go like this:

VICTIM: Wow... do you know what I really hate? I ha-
ME: (cutting the person off in mid statement) PEOPLE WHO KICK PUPPIES!!!
VICTIM: What? No, not that. I ha-
ME: (cutting the person off in mid statement again) You don't hate people who kick puppies?
VICTIM: Huh? No, that's not what I-
ME: What type of a sick pervert are you???
VICTIM: NO! I was just trying to-
ME: What did the puppies ever do to you???
VICTIM: OKAY! I hate people who kick puppies! But do you know what *else* I really ha-
ME: LIAR! You just said that you do not hate the people who kick puppies! So now not only are you a puppy-kicker-lover, but you're also a dirty dirty LIAR!
VICTIM: I was just-
ME: You were just LIEING TO ME AND LOVING THE PUPPY-KICKERS IS WHAT YOU WERE DOING!!!
VICTIM: (runs away)

So anyway, pretty much everyone who knows me knows not to start out a conversation with a question around me. It just gets ugly.

But on Saturday morning, Brittany and I were talking, and she did it. "Uncle Brian, do you know what I really like?"

I said "SUNNY DAYS!!!"

Without missing a beat she said "Yes, I like Sunny Days. But do you know what *else* I really like that I want to tell you about right now and I don't want you to guess at because I just want to tell you about it?"

I had no snappy come-back to that one. She done me proud :)
