Unable to get ANYTHING done on Columbiahouse.com, I decided to call them up and take care of things (have our "Fun Cash" used for our last purchase, cancel the "Director's Selection" for this month, and cancel our membership). But since the account is in the name of Crystal Caldwell (from before we were married), they can't help me at all. But she's at work! She can't call during your crap-ass East Coast business hours! I begged, I pleaded, I even tried to reason with them. But they said it was for my own protection, that NOTHING could be done unless we were talking with the person who's name is on the account. It's part of their privacy and security policy, designed to give their customers the most and finest security available.
So I called back an hour later and said i was Crystal. Didn't even disguise my voice. Just said "Yeah, I'm Crystal". Not even a questioning tone was detected. They just went ahead and did it for me.
The moral of the story is that if you try to do thing *legally*, it just ain't gonna work. Always go with deception and bold-faced lying. It's the only way that actually works!
