Dead Milkmen

I think it's safe to say that what REALLY attracted me to The Dead Milkmen in the late 80's and early 90's wasn't that the COOL kids in school liked them, and it wasn't that their music was particularly good when compared to the other popular stuff of the day that I was in to. No, it was the fact that Adam Curry of the MTV Top 20 Music Video Countdown seemed deeply, DEEPLY disturbed that this weird alternative punk band was clawing it's way up through the ranks all the way up to number 3 where it stayed for a while, nestled betwixt HIS favorites like Ratt and Poison and White Snake. I can clearly remember him cautioning us, PLEADING with us to NOT LET THIS HAPPEN! That THIS IS NOT MUSIC, IT'S JUST NOISE!

I rushed right out and bought "Beelzebubba" the very next day!

Did you know that Adam Curry was the original owner of the mtv.com domain, back in 1992? He set up a web page there, which I read at the time using Lynx for Windows. Then, he got into legal trouble with MTV for what we now call cybersquatting.

BTW, even though that is cool trivia, it does not absolve him from having bad taste in music.

And of course NOTHING can absolve him from having had the biggest hair in all of forever.
