So THIS is new...

Been fighting this for about 20 hours now... I think I'm sick. I'm weak and short of breath and my chest feels tight.

I know... Fat guy, lots of strenuous stuff yesterday... Heart Attack, right? But no!

No pains or numbness in any extremities, and doing an "Internal Check" i can tell that my heart is pumping just fine. No fluttering, no racing, no pounding... just the nice relaxed rhythmic beating of a relaxed heart.

Head ache. Body aches. Unable to stay focused or concentrated for more than a few moments at a time.

Oh, and I'm RAVENOUSLY hungry but unable to eat more than a few bites before i feel like I can't eat any more.

Yeah, that sums it up... it's the same feeling I get when I've gone for 24 hours or so without eating :(

Lots of other people are feeling the same way. I think it is due to all the flu shots going around at the moment. They make you sic so your body can fight the flu but in turn it also spreads the bloody flu around.

This is actually a common, but incorrect, theory.

The shot contains a killed virus - the flu shot cannot give you the flu, or enable you to spread the flu.

Everyone knows that the flu shot doesn't give you flu. It is simply a low-grade radioactive dye to make it easier for the "metal detectors" at the airport to read a hash of your DNA when you go through them.

And this thread is a perfect example why I keep coming back to this journal...

[livejournal.com profile] dotgirl has already covered this, but you really can't get sick from a flu vaccine. It can give you some side effects that are flu-like, but isn't the flu and isn't contagious. There are a ton of articles about this, but here's one I just quickly googled up, from the CDC, who I think are fairly knowledgable in this particular regard. :)

We had our shots about 3 weeks ago, so I don't think it is any kind of side effect of the vaccine. It could be the flu though, just because he had the shot doesn't mean he won't get it :( Molly's been sick for about a week, so I guess it wouldn't shock me.
