Dreamwidth

HOLY SMOKES have you checked out http://www.dreamwidth.org recently? It's Livejournal circa 2006! I think I'm in love!

All y'all feel free to add me over there, I'm still captain_slinky and I think I'll be slowly moving all my stuff over there, starting with my regular journal and then rebooting some of my various communities over there as well if it seems to work for me :)

I really, REALLY am liking Dreamwidth so far (been using it for an hour now), it's EXACTLY like Livejournal used to be right before they got bought by The Russians. Research has shown me why that is - it was made by all the displaced US Livejournal employees! So imagine LJ without the mysterious DDOS attacks keeping you from accessing your account, without the spam for Viagra and Smokeless Cigarettes, without the constant ads everywhere, without the ISP Mailer Daemons blocking messages due to spam abuse...

...And there's a TON of folks over there! I'm shocked with how active the communities are!

The biggest thing I'm enjoying, though, is a reliable RSS News Feed aggregator. All my news feeds, all chronological, all being displayed (unlike on FaceBook where the Timeline will very often decide I don't need to see those updates)... and best of all it's a place where i can BLOG :)

really? Active communities? That just might be enough to convince me to check it out. I miss the communities.

I have a Dreamwidth account, but it fell into disuse again just because it's habit to come here. LJ is dying, yes. But people keep spreading out to disparate sites. I refuse to do FB, I barely keep track of G+, and I haven't re-discovered half my friends on DW, if they're there at all. It's kinda sad. I wish we had a better answer to the disparate sites/identities issue. Somebody needs to come along and invent one.
