Diet Stuff

Breakfast: Baked Chicken Breast
Lunch: Baked Chicken Breast
Dinner: Taco Salad (seasoned Turkey taco meat, lettuce, baby spinach, cheese, greek yogurt, taco sauce)

Gym: 1.7 Miles, 1.7 Total

Clean: 20/10 X2

Here I go again! My goal is to do this for 60 days, because by then (according to The Guy On The Radio Who Was Selling A Book About Accomplishing Goals) it will be *habbit*.

The guy on the radio hooked me with this line, and will be my tag line for all these Diet posts: "The best time to plant a tree was ten years ago. The second best time is RIGHT NOW".

Not sure why that has so much inspiration for me, but it does. It really, really does :)

The Gym, as always, will be keeping track of how far I walk/cycle/elliptical in miles to try and see if I can virtually "walk to Disneyland" :)

The cleaning is a new system that [livejournal.com profile] khristle introduced me to through UnF*ck Your Habitat, an excellent blog for people who have trouble cleaning stuff like I do. They propose that when you clean, limit yourself to either 20-minute bursts with a 10-minute break between them, or 45-minute bursts with 15-minute breaks. This really helps overcome the overwhelming sens of "Oh crap where do I even start???" crush that usually keeps me from cleaning. With a 20 or 45 minute burst of cleaning I can just kind of flit around the house doing whatever is in my path and then take a break and look around to see what still needs to be done.

As long as I do at least 1 45/15 or 2 20/10's, I feel like I've accomplished something each day :)

Yosemite to Disneyland... hmmmmm :)

My dietary goal is the only one that ever "worked" for me, low-carb. I was a minor celebrity in the last Atkins Explosion, after all :) And even though I had done it *wrong* back then (all meat and cheese and aspartame), this time I'm taking a much more realistic approach that includes a TON of spinach, squash and other low-carb veggies.

Cleaning the way you described has NEVER worked for me, mainly because I am a pack-rat and a completionist. I can't look at the stack of stuff in the the garage and say "Well I'll just work at it for 5 minutes" because 5 minutes just piques my interest in any job and then I get overwhelmed (yeah I know). This 20/10 thing is really good for me, though...

You have to do what works for you. I got sick of our "stuff" and threw most of it out a couple years ago. Best thing Ive ever done. Im right there with you on the low-carb issues. I remained on the Atkins induction for four months straight & lost 70lbs. I felt great. But as soon as I reintroduced carbs, I went nuts, gained 90 back, and became insulin resistant. Lesson learned, as it sounds like you have too. Its taken me three years to knock out 50lbs (60 before cancer), but its been well worth the wait because Ive established real lifestyle changes. At least youre working at it. Thats half the battle, no matter what GI Joe says. Keep it up & keep us posted!
