Cool Thievery

As has been a family tradition with us ever since before Molly was born, we went to Qdoba Mexican Grill tonight in order to steal their free air conditioning and occupy a table with our game playing for as many hours as possible while taking advantage of their free drink refill policy. In essence, we are paying $20 to rent a cold gaming table that comes with a free meal and unlimited drinks :)

Tonight we played "Chez Geek" for the first time, and I think I love it even though I lost to [livejournal.com profile] khristle. It feels and plays *exactly* like the type of game I like to make, and lets me know that there IS a market out there for games that can't really be "mastered" :)

We also played a new favorite of ours, a pirate-themed trick-taking game called "Walk The Plank". This game is always fun, but can be made SUPER-FUN if everybody speaks in Pirate-speak! We need a special pirate hat for next time, to designate who's the captain...

And of course we also played our all-time favorite family game, "Aquarius". Those folks at Looney Labs make some excellent games :)

If we can find a big floppy straw hat we can fold the brim up into a tricorn, stitch it in place, and then spray-paint it black.

Yeah, we could do that, sure... OR we could just find a pirate hat at Goodwill Outlet! Three years of wearing hats from there and STILL lice-free!

I've heard great things about Chez Geek. I've never heard of Aquarius but I love Looney Labs so I'm hopeful I'll love that game. I haven't been to Qdoba either. I really need to get out and experience life more, don't I?

Aquarius was recently reinvented/rebranded as "Dragonology", I think is the name of it... we prefer the hippy-groovy game of earth signs over the game of different colored dragons, YMMV.

Yes, do get out more :

I love Chez Geek. I ended up buying all three sets.

We found Chez Goth at a garage sale and never played it, now looking forward to giving it a try as well!
