Experiment

Needed to cook up the last of the fresh tomatoes so I started trying to make my Soup/Sauce again, but made a few changes based on necessity:
  • Couldn't find the Basil in my neighbors back yard (she said we could help ourselves to it any time we like), so I replaced it with a small amount of dry Oregano.
  • Replaced the onions with a big bunch of Leeks that was sitting at the bottom of our veggie basket and needed to be used up
  • Instead of using all Beefsteak Tomatoes, it's about half-and-half mixed with Little Cherry Tomatoes.
  • Iodized Salt instead of Sea Salt, because I grabbed the wrong salt out of the cupboard

Fingers crossed that this works! I'm fully expecting a more Italian vibe from this batch :)

Do you need more fresh tomatoes? I have so many growing I'm giving them away. Most are still green but ready to be reddened on a windowsill. Please feel free to take what you want.

If I need more I'll keep you in mind - EVERYBODY seems to have lots of tomatoes this year!

It has been a good year for them. Last year we had a good crop too.

Cooks can never have too many tomatoes. Gardeners, on the other hand..... Have you done the stuffed tomatoes thing this summer? So many ways to stuff them; even without carb friendly things.
