SSDCC (The extra S is for "Sucky")

So this is weird... every report I hear coming in from last weekend's San Diego Comic Con is that nobody had a good time there. At the most, people are reporting that they had a good time *despite* the convention.

That's really weird, and I don't like it :(

Is that why I haven't heard much about it this year? Even during last year's move, I remember hearing waaaaaaaaaaaay more about things than I ever heard this year. Granted, I mostly keep an ear out on the toy front, but still, this year things were really, freakishly quiet. :/

I think that's exactly why we're not hearing anything. There was nothing new, nothing exciting, just people standing in line for free stuff and exclusives. Mile High Comics, the biggest retailer there, estimates that they lost $10,000 on the whole deal and no other retailer did any better. No one was willing to get out of the free stuff lines to go pay for anything!

I'm hearing a lot of things out of the convention this year, and mostly not good.

I was listening for info this year and it seemed rather low on the major announcements and things to be excited about. What I have been hearing about is stuff like the 17-year-old cosplayer who was sexually assaulted and beaten severely, the mob incident with the car where an older woman was injured, and the cases of sexual harassment, one of which involved a man sticking his hand down a cosplayer's pants (Tigra) and then pulling them down and her other cosplayer friend (Catwoman) chased him down and punched him. Oh, and Jason Momoa's comments about how his favorite part of his role was getting to rape women and then have them fall in love with him. -_-

I heard a few cool things out of the Marvel Comics panels, but nothing particularly exciting about the MCU.

:(

I've heard a lot of people say they like ECCC better.
