023 - Molly's Super-Lame (Comparatively Speaking) Tenth Birthday Party
This morning I woke up feeling really bad about how lame Molly's tenth birthday party is going to be. Compared to other years, that is...
Starting with her FOURTH BIRTHDAY, we've had nothing but parties which could be considered nothing less than EPIC. It's been SIX YEARS of Disneyland, Chuck E. Cheese and Laser Blacklight Bounce House Kiddy Raves - the lamest of these parties having been Chuck E. Cheese.
...And you remember how much you wished YOUR parents would let you have YOUR birthday at Chuck E. Cheese, right?
Every year, Molly's birthday has been a HUGE event for us. It was meticulously planned, researched, scrimp-n-saved-up for... this is our time to celebrate not just Molly, but *us* and our love for each other! We make it as big and as epic as our love :)
So this year, we were sick. Like, from Thanksgiving till NOW, it's been a non-stop parade of colds, flus, stomach bugs, sinus infections, gout and other ailments that have left us just completely exhausted. Molly's birthday just kind of... it just snuck up on us :(
And it's her first DOUBLE DIGIT DAY, too! Ten years old!
My old Professional Party Planer training from Birthday Express tells me that statistically, this is the last Birthday Party we get to throw FOR her; starting between 11 and 15, your kid is going to either start telling you what THEY want to do, or just give up on parties altogether :(
Now don't get me wrong, we *have* a party lined up - a pretty great party at that! A few of Molly's absolute closest friends, the awesome Library and Game Room of our Community Clubhouse (1970's chic complete with foosball, shuffelboard and pool tables), we plan on playing family games for a few hours and just having a grand old time...
But it just ain't no Laser Blacklite Bounce House Rave :(
