024 - Molly's 10th Birthday Party Report
Jan. 30th, 2016 08:22 pmA wonderful time was had at the Game Night Birthday Party, despite all the foul-ups on our part leading up to it (not the least of which being that we forgot to invite MANY close friends - Stephen & Co, Tina and Alex being the three Usual Suspects that Molly mentioned were missing). Luckily for us, a combination of last-minute posts about the Game Night combined with Molly inviting random kids from school WORKED!
A great sampling of Molly's closest, dearest friends showed up - Ben, her BFF since Kindergarten. Hannah, her Girly-girl BFF who moved away last year. Sylvia, the child who has been mistaken for Molly's little sister more times than I could ever count. Savannah, the neighbor kid who is always a solid playdate. And K.C., the current Schoolyard Best Friend.
They ran and screamed and had a great time in the awesome 1970's Game Room of our clubhouse - I'm kind of in love with that place :)
And we had ADULTS! For the first time EVER, Matt & Rebecca (a couple I personally helped create back in the 90's) and their kid, Robbie, made it to our Game Night! It seemed that they had a great time, even if this wasn't our *standard* Captain Slinky Game Night - THIS Game Night had to end at 8pm and involved nothing but Family Games. We didn't even get to play Sleep Deprivation Apples To Apples! Some day...
Haley & Ben were there, which was awesome - Haley is ALWAYS the favorite of old and young alike, and Ben is just the perfect accompaniment :)
Conrad & Bernadette were there as well, aka The Couple We Really Should Be Spending More Time With. We have just entirely too much in common with them, right down to the Disneyland Obsession! They hung back at the end of the night for long talks while Molly and Ben (their son) could get in some extra awesome play time together. Two kids have NEVER, EVER been as in sync as those two are :)
Games played included Super Fight, Tumple, Forbidden Island, and one aborted game of Donkey (kids were too squirrely for a game at that point, even one as silly and crazy-random as Donkey). It was a great party :)
