Suck Con 2005

That was by far the most DISSAPOINTING Star trek convention I've ever been to!

I'm sorry it had to be her first one ever :(

I got to see Brent Spiner and he is still pretty damned cool in my eyes :) I'm glad that I went, I would have been upset if I didn't.

What went wrong? Y'all seemed pretty keen to go. Why the disappointment?

Less than 100 Trekies showed up (I'd say close to 50), so the room was more than half empty. There was little or no organization. The audio/visual equipment (which our people should be GAWDS with) was state-of-the-art technology for 1989, and they couldn't even master that! A grand total of 5 dealers in the "Dealers" room trying to charge $25 a pop for $10 T-Shirts and other stuff that can be easily purchased on-line for 1/3rd the price. Uncomfortable, no air conditioning, a lack of real Trekies (not a Klingon in the whole lot of 'em!) and a general air of inneptitude. I could go on and on about it (like I just did)!

The only good part was the hour that Brent Spiner spent on stage. And since it was just a fist-full of us there, it was quite intimate. Not $65 per seat intimate, but cozy none the less.
