OH do I have tales of Febreze for YOU!

So I had stumbled accross a VERY NICE stack of older Fantastic Four comics (we're talking low numbers around issue 25-80, right when Stan and Jack were in the full of their prime) but they had belonged to a heavy smoker and therefore had a scent that SCREAMED "Welcome to Marlboro Country". Had a buyer who was interested, but wanted to cut the price in half due to the smell involved. I told him to give me a week and I'd see what could be done about the smell.

We tried a variety of sollutions culled from common sense and old wives tales, and in the end I had a stack of ruined comics suitale for scrapbooking :(

Fabreez took *some* of the smell away, but caused the cover and pages to become super-brittle.

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda worked EXCELLENT, but left a fine powdery residue on everything that was quite unpleasant.

And the oldest, tried-and-true of sollutions, spreading them out in the open air with plenty of fresh air and sunshine? Aparently even the slightest of summer breezes can carry a comic book up to half a block away.
