Lego Dude the size of a TODDLER

One of the (many) things I bought this weekend that made [livejournal.com profile] khristle cringe was a 19-inch tall Lego Dude. Picture is here:

Looks like a regular little lego Dude, right? Only he's NINETEEN INCHES TALL!!! Made out of the same stuff that regular lego dudes are made out of, too, so he's HEAVY. I instantly fell in love with him. Crystal rolled her eyes and gasped the same way she does whenever I try to buy ANYTHING non-practical at a Thrift Store. If it's not clothes or shoes, she she reacts like an adult giving a 15-year-old her first driving lesson; she clenches her fists, grits her teeth, her eyes go wide and she gasps for air as her foot stomps on an imaginary brake pedal.

This is, of course, because she just got done with several years of living in 800-square-feet of Apartment with me and my 1700-square-feet of accumulated crap that didn't fit in to one of our two different storage units, as well as then having to pack-up and move all 1700-square-feet of said accumulated crap all by herself in to the new house.

But I digress...

They wanted a buck-fifty for The Giant Lego Dude and so I pleaded like the over-sugared second-grader that I am, and I got my way. Giant Lego Dude came home with us! He's sitting on top of my monitor right now, lookin' SHARP! Nothing anyone could ever say or do could EVER make me part with my Giant Lego Dude!

On a lark, i decided to look on Ebay to see if anybody is trying to sell these things.

Yup, they are. And yup, they have. For anywhere between $150 and $250 dollars.

SO! Long story short! If you or anyone you know would be interested in ownig their very own Gian Lego Dude, please have them check out the following link! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=260345686113 NO RESERVE!!! Out of curiosity, and for comparison, how big/old is Molly?
Hunter's 20 months and 3 feet, 35+ pounds.

Well okay, the Giant Lego Dude is the size of an infant. But Toddler sounded so much cooler!

Molly will be three on January 29th. She's, uhm... *yeah big* and *mumble pounds*.

(We haven't been able to keep her still long enough to weigh, and she destroys any official Height Chart that we try to put up in her room. Too flimsy, need a HEARTY, STURDY growth chart)

Pencil marks on the doorframe, my man. Then just get out a yardstick and fill in the numbers afterward.

Khristle: Hunter is a behemoth. That is all.

Molly will be three in 17 days (!!!!) - I'm not sure how tall she is, but she is 31 pounds. She has been very "average" for height.

OMG I hate you now, I was a lego club member from the day I was born and I collect large figures but I don't have that kind of moolah

[identity profile] captain-slinky.livejournal.com 2009-01-12 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I completely forgot! It WOULD have been the perfect thing for you! I guess what threw me off is that this giant figure isn't covered in horrifically mutilated body parts or chains? That's why I didn't think of you?

At the very least you'll get to see the figure up-close on Friday? I think I'll have my D&D ready to go by then!

Sweet, my dice are all warmed up and ready to roll.

She is smart to let you keep it. See if your wife "allows" you to buy this kind of stuff it will build up and then she will be well taken care of in her old age. Or she'll get the strangest divorce settlement around.

"Yeah, it was rough. She got the house, the dog, and my collection of giant mutant Lego men. At least I got to keep the Magic cards! Now she gets to live in luxury off the Lego man sales and I get to fish for more green mana with the guys."

Heh Heh.

Seriously, that is a heck of a find. Well done! I would have bought it too.

No way is he getting the Magic cards. No way in hell.

I sooo recomend you change the auction photo to include some regular sized Lego figures, for size comparison. I passer by might bid just on the description, but I bet you'd hook more with that.

[identity profile] captain-slinky.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Tried it. Thanks to the itty-bitty pictures that Ebay allows you to use for your preview (which is what the average passer-by is going to be passing by), the regular Mini Fig wasn't even visible. In the end I decided to go the same way that every other seller of Giant lego Dudes went and just put a picture of the giant there with the description. Seems to have worked well for them :)
