The Allergy Season Lightning Round beginnnnnns... NOW!

Every year i get hit REALLY HARD by allergies, usually all at once and usually in a way that is so debilitating I can barely move. It is during this first hard-hitting week of Allergy Season that we freak-out and go nuts trying to find the magical mixture of pills that will cure me. We also go on a spending spree, trying to buy the latest and the greatest in Dust-Mite Protection for our bedroom, usually resulting in an expenditure of over $100 for a California King-Size Ziploc Baggie.

This year is no exception.

Posts from me right now will be few and far between till we receive our Bedding Covers and i find that magical mixture of OTC Allergy Meds. Today we're trying Excedrin Allergy & Severe Cold Daytime mixed with some Ibuprofin and Claritin.

When I worked at Comcast there was a mixture i liked to take from the communal medicine cabinet that i called "Chasing The Devil-Bunny". I don't recall what the actual drugs were; all i remember is that is was two long white pill sand two lil' round red pills. Looked like a red-eyed bunny sitting in the palm of my hand. it made the nose stop running, the throat stop scratching, the eyes stop watering, the head stop pounding... and I could hear the colors on my monitor, as well as the lies they were trying to tell me.

Sure do wish i knew what that mixture was :(

The medicine cabinet at work has different brands in it now than before so I probably will not be much help but I have been using the non-drowsy Claritin and it has been making it as close to bearable as I can hope for.

The little round red pills were most likely Sudafed. That's the only one I can think of like that. They're tiny, red and round. With a candy shell!

I hear you on the allergy woes, though. My head feels like it wants to implode, my nose can't decide if it's plugged or dripping (can it do both at the same time??), I've become a phlegm factory and my eyes are on constant sandpaper alert.

Must. Get. Drugs.

how about alavert decongestant 12 hour? it's cheaper than claritin but same active ingredient. throw in some tylenol and nasal spray...

if your nostrils are rubbed raw. old people on oxygen use this because of the air tubes... i've tried it and it's very softening and therapeutic.

The red pills were pseudoephedrene - aka. Sudafed. That's what I was taking the night my monitor started swimming like an octopus. I think I even still have a stash of them, although they're 4 years old at this point & I have no idea if they're still any good.

The long white ones were probably acetomenaphen like someone else said, which is just a painkiller. Not sure if it also acts like an anti-inflammatory.

The long skinny ones could have also been some "sinus relief" "cold medication" thing, which most likely would have had more decongestant to it and a fever reducer; possibly with more acetamenophen. Can't remember.

Lately the combo of Lotradamine (generic claratin) taken daily along with pseudoephedrene as needed (when the congestion is kicking me in the head) works for me.
