Not that anyone will believe me because it's April 1...

Got an X-Ray, nothing broken... just a nasty sprain. A sprain bad enough to make the doctor suggest that i wear a "Boot" and use crutches for the next 6 to 8 weeks.

However, I think I'm done with this doctor. Time to find a new one. Didn't even OFFER any pain meds for me even though I'm in MUCHO DEL PAIN-O (as they say down South of the border).

Also, he really rushed the whole thing. Appointment started at 4:30, I was in the car and on my way home at 5.

So now I have to decide if The Convention is "doable" while I'm in a condition that makes it difficult for me to walk.

You have a sprain, and he didn't even OFFER pain meds? Whats his name? Dr. DeSade?

Not sure what his name is... it always comes out sort of muffled when he answers me through that zipper-mask of his...

nevermind difficult to walk... there will be swelling, even that many days after the fact. You will want to keep it elevated & iced... in between warm, then more ice. I'm sure you know the routine.

Thing is, being vertical for as many hours in a row as a Con requires means more blood in the foot, more swelling, more pain... eventually it will begin to throb because you won't be able to resist thoughtlessly putting weight on it (crutches are annoying at the BEST of times). And since you won't even have the support of some high-quality medical grade painkillers, it will truly suck.

If its that badly messed up you may want to stay home. Or break down & get one of those wheely chairs... just carry your crutches & have a very obviously bandaged/strapped up foot so its obviously a battle-wound. Then you can wheel around & hit people with your crutches if they can't get out of the way of the injured person...

NOT what I wanted to hear :(

I'm more stubborn than that. I'll go ahead and live with the pain. I don't suppose you have any crutches i can borrow, do ya?

Nope, your wife came & swiped them today.

Not sure what she wanted them for....

I've been out for the last few days and am just now catching up on my friends page.
I did the exact same thing a few years ago and it took over a year for it to completely heal. be REALLY carefull because you will be more apt to doing it again once it starts to feel better, it's going to be weak for a long time... it REALLY is worse than a break. I hope you start feeling better soon
