Star trek was indeed the bestest darned movie in all of forever... but I still think there will be hundreds of thousands of people who refuse to go see it simply because they're "Not in to That Star Trek Crap". And that's sad because... WOW.

khristle had about as much exposure to The Original Series as anybody else in the "NITTSTC" crowd... she had been forced to watch an episode or two, and she knew that the funny old guy from Boston Legal was on it.

This was the first movie I've ever been to where she was demanding a second viewing by the end. It was THAT GOOD.

I've always been more of a ST: TNG person myself. But I was amazed by this version. I was fully prepared to boo, hiss, and generally express my incredulity and disdain....within the first two minutes that urge was completely forgotten. Abrams really did a good job of reinventing the characters; and the actors did a REALLY fantastic job of portraying them. I'm actually looking forward to the next one in the franchise.
