Something I really miss about The Good Old Days of Television (read: "Before Cable") is stumbling across random programming and falling in love with it. When we only had 5 channels and four of them were showing sports, we had to learn to love whatever was showing on that fifth channel. This is how I learned to love Westerns, Shirley Temple movies, 1960's sit-coms and vintage cartoons!

(I swear this is the Grumpy-Old-Manliest this post gets, honest... after this next little bit where I yell at the damn kids to get off my damn lawn, it takes a modern, optimistic turn).

Today I experience a sort of Entertainment Log Jam, where since I have unlimited access to every bit of entertainment in all of forever, I can never choose what I want to watch. Whereas back in the day I could be perfectly content to let episodes of The Facts Of Life play in the background while I did things, I now spend HOURS scrolling through Netflix, Hulu, Crackle and Amazon looking for something better. Better than WHAT, I don't know... but *better*. Why settle for something that's not THE BEST when I have access to THE BEST?

Luckily, I have found a few different Roku channels that bring back that old feeling of discovery, chief amongst them being a channel called "Ace TV". It is a non-stop stream of B-Movies, One-Shot TV shows and old commercials that you probably have no recollection of. And if you miss the beginning of the show, you'll likely NEVER NOW WHAT IT WAS.

Today I watched some weird movie featuring Richard Hatch and John Saxton, a sci-fi/fantasy film from what looked to be the early 80's. It was AWESOME! And better yet, I *never* would have wasted my time on it just by seeing it listed on Netflix or something.

I am happy to have Ace TV :)
