This was by far our WORST trip to Disneyland in the past 6 years, but don't read that as it is written. I put a lot of thought in to this little analogy that *should* explain/discount the value of my "complaints", or at the very least put them in to the proper light?

So let's say you have a friend. AN AWESOME friend. The type of friend who might not be your *best friend*, but you wish you could hang out with this friend more because you know that every time you hang out you have an awesome time. Do you have a friend like that? I think everyone should have a friend like that :)

On day this Awesome Friend says "Hey! You should totally come to my Christmas Party!" and of course you're all HECK YEAH I'M GOING TO THAT CHRISTMAS PARTY even though it's really kind of super inconvenient for you to go - you have to take time off of work, you have to cancel a few other Christmas Parties you were invited to, you need to find somebody to feed your stupid cat - but DUDE CHRISTMAS PARTY WITH AWESOME FRIEND!!!

You make the plans. You book the flight. You get the hotel room. You leave a Costco-sized bag of cat food open in your kitchen and hope the cat doesn't explode. You get to The party and WOW it's BEAUTIFUL! And there's your Awesome Friend! Your Awesome Friend says Hi and thanks you for coming...

...and then moves on to the next guest.

And you're like "Oh... okay, cool! I'll just, uh... I'll be over here I guess?" You see your Awesome Friend doing their best to entertain everyone, but there's A LOT OF GUESTS here at this party! Weird, rude guests that you have no idea how they could POSSIBLY know your Awesome Friend, but your Awesome Friend seems to love them! Your Awesome Friend checks in with you every once in a while to see if you're having a good time and you say "Oh I'm having a blast, thanks!" but the party is just so busy and noisy and jam-packed all you can do is hold on to your beverage and find a spot along a wall where you don't get crushed by all the other party-goers. You're just going through the motions now, but your mind keeps on making things worse so you'll have a "legit" reason to leave.

So that's what this trip to Disneyland was. We still love Disneyland, still want to hang out with it, we just don't want to go to any of their parties any more. We like it when it's just Disneyland and us :)

And besides, only two of our five days were bad. The rest of it was as awesome as always :)

I think I get that. I've been when it's crowded and I don't want to do that ever again. When we go, I go to great lengths to plan for times when it will be "quieter" than usual and to research which park is most likely to have the lowest crowds each day. And I pay attention to the lines apps. But, yeah, it takes work to avoid the crowds.
