I can't think of a good excuse for anyone between the ages of, say, 17 to 35, for having not seen all of Kevin Smith's movies. Can you? THERE IS NO GOOD REASON! PERIOD! In recent days, I have found out that *two* people I know have no idea what it means to experience all of the Kevin Smith films. At least one of them has seen "Chasing Amy"... that's a step in the right direction. But to go through life without havig seen Clerks? Mall Rats? Dogma? Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (well okay, you can probably live without having seen Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back)... i can't imagine a life so devoid witty pop-culture references and sarcastic undertones!

I believe that "not liking them" is an excellent excuse. *smiles sweetly*

Since I'm over 35, may I be excused for having never seen Chasing Amy?

You also can't imagine a life devoid of spending the first 30 minutes of your day making poo. So. Uhm.

But how can you know that you don't like them if you've never *seen* them??? For instance, I have seen CSI: Miami twice, and I can tell you for a fact that I do not like it!

If it's the *only one* you haven't seen, then that's okay. You are excused. But dude... that's the one that's all about Comic Books, Fandom, and Lesbians!

Oh, I can (imagine* it... I just wouldn't want to *live* it. But life without kevin Smith??? UNTHINKABLE!!!

I have seen Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy.

I liked 1.5. I can make an educated guess based on his directorial style as to whether I'd like the others.

Ah, yes! For *you* to form an opinion on them is okay! You have seen over half his films, so you can make an informed decision (although, really, you should give Dogma a chance... it's pretty keen)! But for someone to have never seen *any* of them? Or to have only seen *one*??? MADNESS!!!

I know, it's just never on cable anymore.

If only there were some sort of a device that would allow you to *view* movies that weren't on cable... why, I'll bet that if such a device existed, there would be dozens - nay, THOUSANDS - of stores that would offer to loan you a movie in exchange for money! Ye GADS, why hasn't someone thought of this before? We'll be RICH if we can come up with that non-cable Movie Viewer!

What if they were raised by the Ahmish? What if they're blind and deaf? What if they have no arms in which to reach for the good movies and their parents have no sense of taste? What if THEY are cursed with no sense of taste? What if they have a fear of televisions? What if they had a television surgically removed from their colon after a horrible bean accident?

Pffft. It'll never fly.

The Amish should abandon their beliefs in order to enjoy the "Sex In A Very Uncomfortable Place" running gag in Mall Rats. The blind and deaf could easily enjoy a braile transcript of Jay's Russian cousin singing "Berzerker". The no-armed people could easily climb the shelves at Blockbuster to grab a copy of Dogma, regardless of theri parents taste in movies. A person with no sense of taste could just as easily develope a sense of taste after seeing even just ONE Kevin Smith film. A fear of Televisions could not keep a person from seeing the movies wheile they are int eh theaters, even if it had been removed from their colon.

See? ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD REASONS WHATSOEVER!!!

it's not meant to *fly*... it's meant to let people view movies in the privacy of their own homes!

I discovered last year that a girl I know had ONLY seen Jay and Bob....

And she had thought it was funny. Without any knowledge of the other movies.

I should have ended the friendship there come to think of it.

Well now there's something to be said for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back... it was the first Kevin Smith film that Crystal had ever seen, and she thought it was funny as well. It lead to her wanting to see all the other Kevin Smith films, opened her up to all sorts of good comic books, etc... it gave her faith in my geek-bility to detect good entertainment!
