Hot DAMN but that Mr. Al Yankovick puts on a good show! His opening act was somewhat lame, but you had to feel sorry for the poor girl. She was a Cowgirl Commediene (entertaining a group of people in to Rock and Comedy), aparently used to entertaining groups up to 200 Cowboys (I heard somewhere that attendance for the show was completely sold out and packed at 10,000 people), she had only known for TWO HOURS that she was going to be the opening act for Weird Al (the original opening act cancelled mysteriously and unexpectedly), and she had a BROKEN LEG. She was like the Def Lepard of opening acts... God DEFINATLEY had something against her!

But then there was Al. The Weird One opened with The Angry White-Boy Polka, and it all just kept getting better from there. The biggest suprise (to me) was that he had dusted off some pretty old original songs and brought them out for this tour. Stuff like "Melanie" (a love song for stalkers), "One More Minute" (the bitterest love song ever), and "Dog Eat Dog" (a spot-on parody of all Talking Heads songs from the "Stop Making Sense" era... complete with the rediculously oversized suit).

I think my favorite part of any Weird Al performance is the big finalle, "Fat". He paid a lot of money for that fat suit, and by golly he's gonna use it till it falls apart! But that's not the best part of it. Oh, no. See, at the end of "Fat", he says his closing remarks, introduces the band, then says goodnight in a very standard rock-and-roll fashion, the exits the stage. And all the suckers - all the people who don't know any better - start leaving. I love to look back in to the bleachers and see the people rushing to get out. They just don't know. See, Al *ALWAYS* does and oncour :)

After about 10 minutes of standing ovation, the lights perk up. The smoke machines start belching out their smoke. That scary music from "The Omen" (I think it's called "O Fortuna") strats blasting through the speakers with force that you can feel in your gut! And the stage is swarmed by Storm Troopers, Imperial Guards, and Darth Vader! Once the stage is set, The Emperor comes on stage and commands us to clap along to tunes he plays on the keyboard. Then Al and the rest of the band take the stage for great big sing-along versions of "The Saga Begins" (aka "That Anakin Guy" song that's sung to the tune of Don McLean's "American Pie"), followed by the long lasting tradition of "Yoda" (sung to the tune of The Kink's "Lola"). If you have never seen Yoda performed live, you're missing an incredible show.

AND ALL THOSE SUCKERS MISSED IT! "C'mon, Lurleanne... if we hurry, we can get another funnel cake while all these geeks just stand here and clap!"

Hope you enjoyed your Funnel Cakes, sucker!
