Okay, I can see how the title of this post could make somebody assume that I have some personal beef against Seth Green (is that a sexual innuendo?), but really I don't. Matter of fact, I admire him and his acting very very very much!

But here's the problem.

Seth Green is a brilliant comedic actor. See "Party Monster" for proof of this, or his roll of Oz in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, or even Scott Evil from the Austin Powers movies. He's good! REAL good! But then Hollywood decides to try and categorize him. Is he a rebel teen? Is he a twenty-something slacker? Is he a workplace nerd? And then they try to cast him in rolls that are *kind of* the rolls he should be in, but not really. And of course since he's an actor who needs to make money in order to survive, he takes the roll.

And you end up with stuff like every other movie he's been in. Forgettable things like that movie with Dax Shepherd, or that other movie with Robin Williams, or... or any of the other films he's been in that I can't even remember.

Seth Green is like a very specific tool. Other actors are hammers and screwdrivers and adjustable crescent wrenches that you can use for multiple every-day projects, but Seth Green is a 1/4-inch rivet driver. You can try to use it as a hammer or a screw driver and yeah it'll work, but what you really need to use him for is driving 1/4-inch rivets.
