016 - Too La-Z-Boy

I purchased this chair in like-new condition at my local Value Village for, I kid you not, medical reasons. I have owned recliners before, but never an actual La-Z-Boy... Reclines-a-lot, Slouch-O-Matic, Seitchure-Atsdowne... lots of high-quality recliners from respected furniture makers, but never an actual La-Z-Boy. This particular model usually retails for just over $1,100 new, I paid $25 for it. It seems to have been owned by a little old lady who was allergic to animals and cigarette smoke, most likely as a nice chair for her grandson to sit whenever he came to visit (which was maybe once a year). Seriously, this chair my have never actually been sat in. Yes, I am a very lucky SOB :)
So, MEDICAL REASONS. For about a year now, I have been waking up at approximately 4:30am every day unable to stay in bed any longer due to lower back pain, most likely caused by my abdominal/pelvic issues. I would usually come out to the living room and finish my sleep in whatever Easychair I happen to have at the time, most recently a very nice Ikea overstuffed recliner. I've never known exactly why this worked, but I was always able to get another hour or two of sleep thanks to sleeping in a chair.
My Physical Therapist explained it to me. That position, a reclined position with knees slightly elevated and bent... that's the perfect position to take pressure off your back and spine. It's why Astronaut Chairs are shaped that way, so they can take the pressure of liftoff without compacting their spines!
The Ikea chair was fine, especially considering the price (FREE OFF OF CRAIGSLIST), but it only lasted a few months before it fell apart. And so ever since then I've been getting less and less sleep, and getting more and more desperate to find myself a cheap replacement recliner. Thank goodness I stopped by Value Village yesterday and found this one just waiting for me!
Unfortunately, I fear that it's *too good*.
My morning ritual for the past year has been: Get up at 4:30am, start a pot of coffee, get in my chair and try to fall asleep, wake up a little bit when Crystal leaves for work at 6am, wake up completely at 6:30 when my alarm goes off, get some coffee and listen to NPR while checking my email till 7:30 when I go wake up Molly, make her breakfast/lunch, make sure she gets dressed, take her to school, start my day.
THIS MORNING, I got up at 4:30, started the pot of coffee, sat in my new chair and... opened my eyes. I kind of remembered my alarm going off, maybe, but if it did it certainly wasn't going off now. Somehow, I had slept a solid, deep three-and-a-half hours in this chair! I missed Crystal leaving, I missed the coffee pot going off, I missed the dog jumping up on me and falling asleep between my legs, I missed the alarm, I missed the solid hour of NPR playing in my ear... IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!
tl;dr - My new La-Z-Boy Recliner my cause me to sleep up to 27 hours per day.
