Feeling fine! Much better than yesterday. A nice big bowl of Oatmeal will have to be a regular part of my balanced breakfast every day from now on! I'll have to get soe SF Maple Syrup to sweeten it up a bit, but it really sticks with me! Not enough to be the whole meal, but a great suppliment for only 2 points!

My planned lunch of 2 apples and 3 oranges has been cut down to 2 apples and 2 oranges. Gonna see how I do on that, save the points for Dinner tonight. Maybe a 9-point sandwich and some soup?

As a longtime torturer of oatmeal...

If your points system allows dried fruit, I've always liked that as an alternate way to sweeten stuff up. Even just a banana will sweeten it, and (oddly enough) warm banana is kinda yummy.

Also, spices like ginger & cinnamon can make stuff taste "sweet" without actually having sugars in them...

Not to mention those steel-cut irish oats you can get in the metal can. Take 4 hours to cook, yes, but you won't want to eat again for days.

You know, I've heard those are good in the slow cooker - you start them up when you go to bed and they're done when you get up in the morning. That would be a neat way to wake up. We may have to try that in our house.

Hey, what kind and how much oatmeal do you use for 2 points? I need to look into it, because I'd like to get a better serving for the points than the envelopes (low-sugar flavored Quaker instant, myabe?) I have.

I'm using plain, unflavored Quick Oats; the type you get in a big cardoard can. The brand I have is "Mother's Best" but anybrand would do. 1/2 cup of oats, 3/4 cup of water, 1/4 cup of DiVinci Syrup and a dash of salt. It works!

They are absolutely awesome, low glycemic index, and totally granola (if you're into that).

Not to mention Alton Brown (play "Good Eats" theme music here) did an entire show on them.
