They changed our address earlier this year. Same physical location, only now it's on 6th Ave W instead of 168th Avenue. No big deal, a change of address form submitted, and we're good to go.

Except for when it comes to Elections.

Every place I tried to use to look up our local Polling Place told me either (a) That address does not exist, or (b) That address exists, we know exactly where you're at, but we have no idea where you should go to vote.

Tried using both our old AND our new address, no luck. And the Church that they USUALLY did our voting at? Nope, not this time. Empty as empty could be :(

This combined with all the inclemment weather conditions shutting down polling places and tales of voters being turned away because they couldn't figure out the new voting machines? I predict a LANDSLIDE WIN for the Republicans in Washington State this year. Because I know... oh, I KNOW that it was all a great big right-wing CONSPIRACY to keep the good-hearted folks like myself out of the voting booths this year!

Okay next time you get a voter's pamphlet, fill out the part that says you want to be an absentee voter all the time.
You'll never miss another election by not knowing where to go. They send you a thing that looks like a SAT test, you mail it back and you've voted! Also you can sit around for like 2 weeks filling in one circle at a time. You can't do that at a poling place.
You can vote, you just have to be smarter than a republican.

That's exactly the path we're taking :)

Yeah, the absentee ballots are the way to go. I personally can't wait until all of King County switches over. I much prefer that way of voting.

Oh well, if the Reps win I'll do the complaining for both of us since you didn't vote and therefore have no right to complain! Heh Heh!

I thought that i got a letter that said all of snohomish county switched to absentee ballots like a month ago, and to hurry and register for absentee voting before the elections because there would be no local polling places. or did i just dream that? Anyways, i have been doing absentee ballots for years, it's great! the only thing you have to worry about is if the postman voted differently than you and decided to toss all the absentee ballots that he/she didn't agree with...

Hiya Captain Slinky, I am here from your lovely wife's journal.
I have come to say that this person is correct. Sno County is entirely vote by mail, meaning, you two should have received your ballots automatically in the mail, whether you had previously signed up for absentee or not (I had not, but they still sent me mine).

You can check your address on file here:
http://web5.co.snohomish.wa.us/auditorapps/RegConfirm/VoterReg.aspx

So ... something happened here, and if it was me, I'd be pissed. They did a poor job informing everybody of the changes, especially in your case when they messed up your address and didn't get you a stinkin' ballot. I'm sorry you didn't get to vote (especially noting that you'd probably vote like I did, heh).

It says I'm INACTIVE?!?!?! Also, it's got my old address!

Thanks for the info, now I've got to figure out all the getting re-registered stuff and get us registered in time for next year!

I'd say you should kick some ass while you're at it. :P

Good luck getting that straightened out. :|
