And finally, this weekend I dropped both "Green Lantern" and "Green Lantern Corps" from my Pull-List at The Comic Stop. I dearly love all things Green and Lanternish (Hal & Guy being my absolute faves), but I hve unfortunately fallen OUT of love with The New DC. Well to be fair, I'm also no fan of Marvel Comics these days either. Too may cross-overs, too complex of storylines, to "stylized" of artwork. I long for the Pre-Image days of easy-to-foloow artwork that actually lead you frm panel to panel of the book with captions and thought-bubbles. So what's left in my Box each month now?
  • The Walking Dead (Image)
  • Ultimate Fantastic Four (Marvel)
  • Invincible (Image)
  • Knights of The Dinner Table (Kenzer Co)
  • Me2 (Me Squared)(BOOM! Studios)
  • Planetary Brigade (BOOM! Studios)
  • Ex Machina (Wildstorm)
...And that's it! How did I let it get this way? From a Fifty-Dollar-A-Week habit all the way down to LESS than $25 a MONTH?!?!? HOW and WHY have the comic book companies lost my interest so much?!?!?

If it makes you feel any better, my roommate, a 20-year fan of GL, dropped the book late last year because of it's absolutely craptacular stories, and I'm only still reading it so I don't break up my run.

you see, what we need to do instead of open a comic shop, is to single handedly save the comics industry by starting our own comic company! i would be glad to come up with stories, i am very prolific with story ideas, and I have a backlog of plenty of stories to start with. I can show you some of them or tell you about some, if you are interested. seriously! I have never had writer's block. I know the definition of writer's block, but i can't comprehend the idea. i mean, not being able to think of an idea or a story? That just sounds crazy to me. I have the opposite problem, I can't imagine being able to stop coming up with ideas. They don't have a term for that, that I know of. Maybe call it writer's glut? I have so many ideas I can't ever write them all, and I can see way too many ways a story could go. I have some really good ones saved up though. Although I find if I wait long enough, someone else will come up with a similar idea and it will be made into a story or movie before I sell mine. You should read my version of Matrix, written about 3 years before the movie came out. I had aliens instead of AI's that were in control of the matrix though, which was the main difference. Anyways, we would also need an artist, like baeleth, and someone who could sell it to people, you seem good at that. :) I am sure we would all help in every area too, cuz I am positive you have comic ideas as well. Maybe we could recruit other artists too? Show them some of the really kick butt stories and tempt them in...

I'm just SO HAPPY to have Hal back! And Guy Gardner without his weird-ass "Warrior" thing going on? TOO SWEET!

Now I just wish we could get some GOOD writers and artists!

I personally think Gail Simone should write a Guy Gardner series. But that's just me...

The WRITING I can handle...it's the ARTWORK that is hard to come by! Plenty of folks these days love to draw big splashy images, but there are only a fistful that can churn out decent sequential art on a steady monthly basis. It's sad :(

Luckilly, the folks at BOOM! Comics have already done their part towards making comic books good again :)

I just wish Geoff "I hate fans and continuity" Johns would leave the book and never look back. Gail on Guy? I think that would work. And boy, is that last sentence filthy.
