Please help me decide...
Oct. 20th, 2001 03:33 pmA few months ago, I was selling home-made buttons at a local comic book convention when the owner of The Comics Dungeon approached me and asked if I would like to sell my comics through his shop. I accepted, gave him the bulk of my buttons, and told him I would come in in about a week to see how they are selling.
I had never been in The Comics Dungeon before, but when i went there, i knew I belonged. It was dark, musty, and unwelcoming of outsiders. It was the CLASSIC comic book store! Bootleg videos, action figures, and boxes upon boxes of old comic books gave the place a certain air that made me feel like this was where I belonged. So much more stuff than my current comic book shop could ever offer! And I looke din to their subscription service... 15% off new comics, and 10% off anything else in the store!
I guess the biggest dfference betwee the two shops is attitude, really; one (The Comic Stop) is tryng to bring new people in to their shops that might not have ever considered reading a comic book and showing them that comics aren't just for kids any more. The other (The Comics Dungeon) is like a stronghold for us old-school geeks who fear and loathe the outside world... a place where we can belong and associate with our own kind.
So am asking you.... ANY of you... which comic shop should I stick with? Which one deserves my patronage?
