Sep. 7th, 2002 08:58 pmCrystal and I went to GameWorks on Friday night to have a little fun and play a few video games. Our English friend Sammers came with us. Friday nights at Gameworks are "FlashBack Fridays", full of 70's and 80's music and various retro-themed games and contests. As we were buying our game cards, they were playing a game; "Name That TV Tune". I wished I could have been there earlier!
If you do not know, I should let you know; I was raised by a very nice Zenith 27-inch console television. Who needs a mother's love when you've got the warm glow of Charles In Charge re-runs?
So later in the night, they started up the Name That TV Tune game again, and I was there at the right place, at the right time. I was officially Contestant Number One! And let me tell ya, it was like I was born for this moment.
I let the competition try first, guessing at a theme with only 2 seconds played. They got it wrong, and I won a $10 game card. The song was the theme to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
Second round, I said I would guess it in 3 seconds. I got it; it was the theme from The Mary Tyler Moore Show. That was another $10 game card.
Third round, I got the bid at 3 seconds. I don't even remember what it was, but I had another $10 game card in hand.
Fourth round, the opposition tried to trick me by saying *they* could name that tune in 3 seconds, forcing me to try it in two! But I told them to go ahead and try to name that tune. The MC guy played the song, my competiton said "Facts of Life", and I said "HA! Nope! Perfect Strangers! WOO!!!"
I got another $10 game card, and was asked to bow out of the rest of the game so someone else could have a chance at winning. I graciiously left the game, but shouted out answers to each round as they came up. "PUNKY BRESWTER! SILVER SPOONS!"
I felt like a champion :)
