captain_slinkySo let's say that there's a crazy man out there who thinks *EVERYTHING* is the work of the Devil. Halloween, Role Playing Games, Television, Movies, CHRISTIAN ROCK MUSIC... everything. Now let's say that this guy writes a comic book about every single one of these Satanic things to warn the masses. Should you read his material with an open mind, or should you just start mocking right away?

You can read all of Mr. Jack Chick's works here for free. you can learn about little Jimmy (or Timmy, or Donnie... whatever) and how he was a good Christian boy who never sinned until that one day when his friends (under the influence of Satan) pressured him in to that worst of all sins, TRICK-OR-TREATING!!! Timmy puts on a costume, crosses the street, gets hit by a truck, and dies. Jesus turns his back on little Jimmy and lets him burn in the lake of fire because of that terrible sin of wanting to get some candy on October 31st.

Date: 2002-10-04 08:20 pm (UTC)Though if (*insert deity here* forbid) I ever had a kid, I wouldn't raise them Roman Catholic, for the exact reason they state there...if they want to belong to a religion they have to make a concious decision about it. Not just be stuck because that's what Mom wanted.
Nor would they be forced to take other sacrements that require them lying to a bishop (I think he was a bishop) because they don't believe in what they're saying. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
