We had a really good thing going there for about 4 days. Dinner came early (between 5 and 5:30), then at 7 we would turn off the TV and have some "Quiet Time" where we just read for about an hour, all cuddled-up as a family. Molly would be out by 8 and not wake-up till some time between 6 and 7 the next morning, 8 at the latest.
But yesterday we screwed that all up. I didn't get to tire Molly out like I usually can due to my Butt-and-Foot Disease, and
khristle was sick last night so she took some Nyquil at 5:30 and went to bed.
Molly DID NOT appreciate that. I tried my darndest to follow the procedure on my own, but she fought "Quiet Time" for a full hour and a half. Finally, at 10pm, I decided we were just going to go and lay down in bed as a family. Yeah, that didn't work either. All it did was wake up
khristle for a little while. So we hobbled back in to the living room and i decided "Screw It - I'm watching some TV". She finally fell asleep during the opening of Conan O'Brien.
...But not for long.
I had decided to put Molly in bed with
khristle and then I would go sleep in The Big Comfy Chair, which feels good on my poor broken butt. Juuuuuuuust as i fell asleep, Molly started screaming and
khristle had to come out and ask me if I knew where a "Bink" was. I jumped up, pain shot through my butt and back and foot, but i found a Bink and shoved it in her mouth, collapsing on the bed in pain and exhaustion. I figure that was about 2 in the morning, maybe 3.
Molly got me up at 7:30 this morning, she's just as chipper and happy as can be. I feel like one of the marines from near the end of Full Metal Jacket :(

Date: 2008-04-22 06:35 pm (UTC)I usually let stuff go for 3 days. If my body can't show me that it has taken steps to remedy the problem by then, I punish it by taking it to see a doctor.

Date: 2008-04-22 06:37 pm (UTC)See, if I drink to saty awake when she's awake, i end up being completely unable to fall asleep till several hours after she has gone down. This gives her an unfair advantage over me when she wakes-up; she's got 9 hours of sleep, I have 4. So instead i use my bullheadedness and my martyr-like powers to just stay awake with her.

Not to say I condone the drugging of children. Or that I ever did such a thing on my own *innocent whistle*... But once in awhile, it's good to get a full nights sleep.
