Saw the following news item this morning...
Historic Renton Building Fire
The comic book store that they mentioned in this piece was the very first comic book store I went to when I move to the Seattle area back in the early 90's, so I'm finding myself emotionally involved in the story.
I remember taking my early run of Preacher comics (the first 3 issues) in there and trying to sell them to the owner. There were no lights in the place - he said that the whole building was full of electrical short s and issues, he was surprised that the place hadn't burned down yet. Bastard told me that the comics weren't worth much and he gave me $10 for the stack, came in one week later to see them in his case for $80 a pop. That was back in... '93? That sounds about right.
It was also the shop where
dotgirl bought and split a box of the Alliances expansion for Magic: The Gathering. First time either of us had ever bought that many cards at once. Those were good times :)
I'm concerned about the shop, and hope i can find more info about if the place was a total loss :(
