Keep in mind, DC has undone the whole 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' saga. There is now more than one Earth. So, it is entirely possible that we are dealing with the stories of Earth 2, 3, or 25.
This way DC can tell all kinds of stories without worrying about continuity. Then in 10-20 years, they can reset everything again to just one reality. And sell lots and lots of 'Collector' issues.
