According to The Hollywood Reporter, the WB has ordered six episodes of Who Wants to be a Superhero?, described as "a tongue-in-cheek fantasy contest show from reality guru Bruce Nash ("Meet My Folks") and comic pioneer Stan Lee."

The series, which will debut in the 2003-04 season will feature real people with homegrown ideas for original superheroes will face off in character before a panel of celebrity judges who have played onscreen superheroes.

Reporter: "Semifinalists will undergo a 'superhero makeover' -- with a professional artistic gloss overseen by Spider-Man creator Lee -- and compete in various stunts and challenges that mimic comic book derring-do. The winner will then be eligible to have his or her idea developed and expanded by Lee's team, possibly for a comic book spinoff. The producers will conduct and film open auditions around the country in coming weeks."

HOW COOL! THIS is a Reality TV Series I will tune in for over and over again! And you *know* that when the casting agents come to Seattle, I'm gonna be right there on the front line of auditioners, in my home-made costume! WOOT!

I'd best get working on the costume now!

OK, I'll bite...

And what is your alter-ego super hero name and power?

(Oy Vey! The mind boggles! Could it be Cousin Oliver who has the power to make shows that have gone bad disappear! His alter ego would be called Ted McGinty. Or Captain Slinky who can swoop down and find treasure that some sucker will pay for in any pile of crap!)

Ooh!

Too many possibilities! All of those you mentioned are good, as well as "I-Ate-All-The-Krispy-Kreemes Man" and "The Flatulator".

HOWEVER!

Considering the stuff I have been gathering for the past several years (okay... since I graduated High School in '91), it would be my original character, "Junkyard". He's a guy from the future who uses jury-rigged junked future-technological weaponry to fight crime in the present-day so that his Apokolyptic future will never happen. I love a story with a built-in time paradox :)

I just hope they don't use a lot of the "Oof! POW! BAM!" sound-effect balloons like on the old BatMan show... how embarrassing!
