Any freinds out there still collect vintage My Little Ponies? Looking for homes for several loose vintage ponies, most of which are not "Bait" ponies. Putting the word out right here, right now... if I don't hear from any of you I'll assume it's safe to list 'em on Ebay or Etsy :)

How many is several? And what's the state of the pony? I have a 2yo niece who loves her new Pinkie Pie dress up pony but I figured some new ponies that she could play with would be cool, but if they're in more of a state to be collected I could "collect" them for her until at a time when she would be more suitable to not destroy the ponies.

A word of warning; You are venturing in to a world of no return...

There's a HUGE difference between the classic 1980's MLP and the currently popular MLP:FIM.

(MLP = My Little Pony, MLP:FIM = My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic)

If you are collecting for a child that will receive them in the future or will only be played with as a special bonding experience between an Aunt and a Niece, you'll want to buy the new ones. They will have more value to a child who can recognize them as characters from the currently popular "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" cartoon. I suggest starting with Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash and Apple Blossom.

The MLP that we have are true *collectors items* from the 1980's with values that occasionally reach the triple digits when you know what you're looking for. They are chunkier than the current MLP:FIM and almost completely unrecognizable to the fans of the current cartoons.

If you do decide to go with original MLP, you'll want to start off looking for "Custom Bait" Ponies, which are cheap ponies that look great to the untrained eye but have slight flaws that keep them from being collector's items. Fans usually use these "Custom Bait" ponies to create their own awesome customized Ponies :)

Having said that, we have about 50 MLP we are looking to sell, about half of which are in the $30-$50 range and the rest are in the $2-$10 range of Custom Bait.

These are ponies for 30-something kids... I strongly suggest either NEW ponies or Thrift Store/Garage Sale ponies for a child :)

I had MLP when I was a kid. I know the difference between the two and right now the 2 yo plays with her Pinkie Pie because it's A pony not THE pony. If that makes sense. Therefore if they weren't triple digit, super osm collectors items and things like not MIP then it might be worth the relative pocket change for her to experience what MY childhood was like. I don't have a daughter so these moments of nerdom are gold for me.

The $30-$50 range might have to go on hold right now but I am definitely interested in the lower end ponies. As it is I have one of the new old ponies that will probably some day go to Aurelia and I'm planning on picking up the remote control car with rereleased Scootaloo.

It should be. The car was also kind of cool.

Due to the new series I really do love Scootaloo a lot and call the kids it all the time. But I seriously loved, loved my MLP even though I don't think I was allowed to watch the show as a kid.

I am proud to consider myself a "Bronie" :)

I'd love to see a picture. I owned about 30 as a kid, of the 80's variety. I wasn't given the option to keep them, and was forced to give them to my younger cousins, who proceeded to utterly and completely destroy the ponies, the castle, nursery, buggy, waterfall, and Paradise Estate. *sigh*

I'm not a real collector, but I wouldn't mind having a couple again, if they're the same ones I owned as a kid. I'd probably be okay with custom bait quality.

I'll be posting links once they're all up and ready to go... I'm friends with quite a few hard-core collectors who I figured I should give a heads-up to through various social media, so far none have replied...

Stupid question, are bronies only male? I figured it was like a bro who liked ponies but Something Positive cited all MLP fans as bronies. I have since been confused (it doesn't take much).

Yeah, "Bronies" is the term for dudes who normally would not be in to a show squarely targeted at the 8-to-14-year-old Female demographic but are somehow OBSESSED with the new My Little Pony :)

The term for you ladies is that you're a "Pega-Sister"
