My Own Personal ECCC Highlight

On the last day of the Emerald City Comic Con, khristle got so sick that she couldn't make it to the convention :( So as to not let the third day of her 3-day pass go to waste, I took her badge AND my badge with me to the convention so that I could give it to friends who were coming that day and save them some money.

And so THAT is why I was wearing two badges for the first half of the day; one on a laniard around my neck, one pinned to my shirt right next to it.

At one point I found myself completely lost on my way to one of the panel discussions, and decided to ask one of the convention "Minions" for directions. I found a small grouping of them - 3 "Minions" and one regular Convention Center Employee. I approached and asked if they knew how to get to room 201.

One minion stepped forward and said "But more importantly, why do you have *two* 3-day passes?"

Without missing a beat, I said "Oh, this? I'm a Timelord! I was already here yestertoday once before and had a great time! The Adam Baldwin panel tonight was - sorry, WILL BE - hilarious! Thank goodness I've come back in time so I can now know that I don't need to go to the Summer Glau panel and can instead enjoy the How To Publish Your Own Board Game panel instead."

"Oh, that IS handy" replied the minion. "So then you've already done all 3 days one-point-three-three times already..."

"Actually I've done it 6 times... this is number 7. That's why I have two badges right now, I have to go and give one to Me number 3 so I don't miss any of the fun!"

"Makes sense... so then which one is your original badge?"

"The original badge? Huh... y'know what I... I don't even remember where I put the original... badge..." I patted all my pockets pretending to look for where I may have put this first badge.

"That very well could be important, you know... how did you even GET your first original badge?"

"The original badge was handed to me by an elderly man who was wearing the same clothes as me, he gave me some sort of warning about not abusing the magical time-traveling convention badge or I'd get stuck in time or somethi--"

"YOU CAN GET TO ROOM 201 BY GOING OUT THESE DOORS AND DOWN THE ESCALATOR TO YOUR LEFT" the regular convention center employee loud-talked over us.

"Right out these doors here?" I asked, pointing to the doors behind me. "And then up the escalator?"

The regular convention center employee nodded, smiled and said "Yes sir... and then just to your left".

"Thank you so much!" I looked at my watch. "I, uh... I may or may not be coming down those stairs in approximately 4 minutes, asking for directions to the Summer Glau panel. Please don't let me know that we had this conversation, as I haven't actually talked to you yet and it just might unravel time. Thanks!"

The regular convention center employee shook her head. The minions just went about their regular business as if nothing weird had just happened :)

SOME DAY you'll be a head writer and you'll think "Y'know who I REALLY need on this show? That random guy from The Internet! HE SHALL BE MY MUSE!!!" And then you'll fly my family and me to Hollywood where we'll live in the pool house of your mansion and be the inspiration for your #1 show. Unfortunately, my character will be played by Jim Belushi :(
