captain_slinkyI spent a lot of time typing up a track-by-track review of the new Weird Al Yankovick CD this evening (The name of the CD is "Poodle Hat", and then LiveJournal decided that I didn't really need to post it. And then my system crashed. So it's all GONE!
In nutshell: 12 tracks. 5 parodies, 1 polka, 1 *REALLY GOOD* Bob Dylan mockery, 3 pretty good original songs, and two original songs that suck a lot of ass. Parodies include Eminem's "Lose Yourself" ("Couch Potato"), Nelly's "It's Getting Hot in Here" ("Trash Day"), Averil Levigne's "Complicated" ("A Complicated Song"), Billy Joel's "Piano Man" ("Ode To A Superhero"), and the Backtreet Boys "I Want It That Way" ("Ebay")
On the Al-O-Meter, this album rates 8 out of 11 Spatulas. That places it right up there with "Running With Scissors" (the one with the "American Pie/ Star Wars Episode One" song) and "Polka Party" (The one no one heard about but had parodies of The New Kids On The Block and Robert Palmer). Still abov the debut album (the one with "Ricky" and "My Balogna"), but still below "Nevermind" (the one with "Smells Like Nirvana") and "Even Worse" (The one with "Fat").
