Witness to The Worst Date

At the Chang's Mongolian Grill in Everett tonight, I got to witness what I can only assume was THE WORST DATE EVER.
THE COUPLE: Looked to be in their early 20's. The girl was in a lovely dark blue satin bustier and a black skirt that made her black hair seem to *shine*. The guy was in a dirty hoodie and jeans, looke dlike he had *maybe* washed his mohawk a week or two back (around the last time he shaved).
The girl cradled her sup of coffee as if it were her only friend in the world, and showed no facial sign of emotion though her stiff posture suggested that she was not having a good time. The only snippet of our conversation that I caught was The Guy saying "Well *I* brought the coupon so that should count for *my* half".
Everything else was visual cues. The guy tried to sit at the same side of the table as the girl, who refused to scootch over for him and just looked at him in the same way one might look at a peron who asked if they could eat your shoes.
During one of her date's frequent trips back to the all-you-can-eat grill, the elferly couple that had been sitting in the adjacent booth got up to leave but not before the elderly woman could stop, pat the girl on the back and givr her some words of encouragement. The girl seemed appreciative.
The general vibe was that The Guy was the one at fault here, and no one was feeling sorry for him. It was awkward.
