I woke up and my ankle felt 98% better - good enough to do a load of dishes and clean the kitchen a little bit!

Instead of trying to jump-start the truck and drive it to the mechanic, we decided to just have AAA tow it there - and I actually remembered to call and have them do it!

Was able to get my lunch-meeting a half-hour early, found out from my boss that (a) our clients love me! And (b) the technical problem I've been working on for the last three weeks, the one that has made me feel like an idiot who can't map a simple network drive, wasn't my fault! It's a "Feature" of Windows 8!

Had lunch with the nicest guy who was able to tell me all sorts of great stories about Hal Sutherland, and he loaded me down with all sorts of artwork and animation cels!

Such a bright-sunny day here and my ankle was feeling good so we went and dug the extra seats for the minivan out of the storage unit (a major task) so now we can sell it and get our new car!

Mechanic called, he was able to fix the truck already and we were able to pick it up right away! As I drove it home, I cried a little bit because I know my Dad would love to see his truck working so well!

Stopped by Corner Comics because my Boss is looking for Emerald City Comic Con tickets ut they're sold out almost everywhere, but Corner Comics has plenty left!

Just eating a bit of dinner right now, then we get to go over to Steve & Tia's house for the first bit of socializing that we've done in MONTHS!

It's been a damn fine day :)

Ohmygosh! I'm going to have to see the artwork and cells and listen to the stories next time I see you! You should write up what you can for the SMHRS when you get a break. I'm sure they'd love to hear about it. I know I would! You have definitely had a good day!

It was indeed the awesomest of days :) Rod is sending me a bunch of pictures, I think I'd like to do an impromptu watch-along next Saturday ("The Super Cereal Bowl") featuring Hal Sutherland cartoons. And that will be the end of it, honest :)

Email me a list of cartoons and I will take care of gathering what I can. 7am or 8am on Saturday?

Thank you :) Let's do 8, no need to get all crazy with it, just a nice little mini-thon :)

Wait, I just remembered - I may already have a commitment on Saturday. It depends on if they keep the Superbowl on Sunday because of the blizzard...

I may just go ahead and make it a Star Trek thing, that was the pinnacle of his career. The most startling thing I learned about Hal was that all the 80's cartoons he has credits on through the 80's? He didn't actually work on them much. He "Retired" in 1974 for a combination of reasons that boil down to Lou Scheimer having drunkenly dissed him, and his kids being stereotypical 1970's college students. Lou called to patch things up a few years later and offer Hal whatever job he wanted, but Hal wasstill pissed so he said "Fine, you want me? Pay me (undisclosed ridiculous amount of money) a week and I'll decide what I do for that money". And Lou, to his credit, said "Anything for you, Hal". His involvement with any cartoon his name is on after that point is to have looked at it and said "Yeah, that looks fine, good job!"

How about some Star Trek and some early Fat Albert (1972-73-ish)?
