Disneyland "Must Do" List

I was just asked by a person who is about to go to Disneyland for the first time what my "Must Do" list is for the park, and I realized that my list is a little... weird. Like, MOST lists are going to be straight-forward "Ride the Matterhorn! Oooh, and the Tea Cups!" mine is more *specific*.
There's more I'm sue - it takes us 5 days to do Disneyland and DCA what with all the stuff on my "Must Do" list!
- Take a ride in Walt's Fire Engine (tours up and down Main Street, it's the same vehicle he used to ride through the park in the early morning and they'll let you sit in the front seat where HE sat).
- Buy a Matterhorn Macaroon at the Jolly Holiday Bakery, step outside and compare it to the real thing.
- Buy a Dole Whip Float and watch it do it's magical lavalamp dance while you drink it slowly and watch the crowds pass by.
- Incite the audience at Captain EO to sing and "HE-HEEEEE!" along with the movie.
- Follow a group of Asian teenagers and just revel in the fun that they're having, maybe even become a part of their group.
- Try to catch the Elvis Tribute show at Tomorrowland Terrace over the weekend and look for The Ghost Of Elvis hanging out on the fringe of the crowd (I've seen him twice)!
- Stand for HOURS if need be to get the perfect viewing spot for the fireworks - right behind the Partners statue (It's like Walt and Mickey are watching the show with you)!
- Ride The Haunted Mansion from the perspective that the story of the ride is that you'e being driven mad enough to commit suicide.
- Buy a bag of the small red Mickey-shaped suckers (best value in the park imho) and hand them out to strangers.
- Watch the Silhouette Lady do her business.
- Mock people who are trying to pull Excalibur from the stone and tell them to "Stand Back" while you try - fail miserably, blame it on the kid who tried before you.
- Eat breakfast at the Carnation Cafe so you can meet Oscar and tell him you love his Potatoes.
- Tell any crying kids that "Thee's no crying allowed at Disneyland".
There's more I'm sue - it takes us 5 days to do Disneyland and DCA what with all the stuff on my "Must Do" list!

Date: 2014-03-19 09:23 pm (UTC)Here's a few things we did that we'd say should be done if you have the time:
Hang out and rest where you can watch the entrance to Club 33 and maybe get a glimpse of some VIP.
Ride in the special car on the Lillybelle and get your punched souvenir ticket.
Request your favorite songs from the piano player and sing along loudly. (The Bare Necessities!)
Ride in the wheelhouse of the steamboat. (We tried but missed out on this one)
Look for the cats that live around the park (I never saw one, but I talked to cat members about them) and the hawk that lives in the Hollywood Tower of Terror (also didn't catch a glimpse).
Take a good look at the decor in the various shops. There's so much detail and lots of fun things to look at. Especially remember to look up!
I also want to bring lots of Disney stickers to give out to kids next time. The lollipops sound like a good idea, but it's easier to carry stickers than lollipops when you just have a small hip bag and pockets.

Date: 2014-03-19 09:35 pm (UTC)Our next trip, I have allsorts of stuff on my "List" for trying to accomplish! There's apparently a Secret Dining Area in Fowler's Harbor that nobody ever goes to, with the most intense view of Splash Mountain!
