For the month-and-a-half leading up to Comic Con while I was recuperating from my abdominal tear, I did great on a low-carb / high-self-loathing diet as long as I had this "Promised Land" of letting myself go off the diet for the weekend of Comic Con. I dropped 20lbs in that month-and-a-half doing nothing but (literally) sitting on my butt. I'm pretty good at lone-wolf dieting like that...

...But Crystal isn't :( And since I'm the one in charge of the cooking for this family, we'll be starting on a Bootleg Weight Watchers Diet in a few days.

Bootleg? Yeah... not going to go to the meetings, not going to buy the books, not going to download the apps. not going to spend $300. Just going to use free online resources such as http://www.laaloosh.com/how-to-calculate-daily-weight-watchers-points-plus-allowance/ (to figure out how many points we get each day) and http://www.calculatorcat.com/free_calculators/weight_watchers_calculator.phtml (to figure out how many points are in the food we eat).

Weight Watchers *kind of* worked for me once upon a time, but it was right after the All-You-Can-Eat-Meat Buffet of Atkins and so I was always *starving*. Then before i could adjust to the smaller portions, we just couldn't afford to do the program any more.

But that was way back *then*, and this is NOW. I've got a smaller appetite. I have a Lap Band. I think I can do this!

Dieting in any form is never easy. If you find something that even kind of works for you, more power to you. Every bit helps.
