Well here we are, six months after you're gone. It was on a Friday, and today is a Friday as well. How appropriate! Hope you're having a good time, wherever you are (you always said "No matter if I die first or your mother, I'm going to Hawaii" - I wonder if you made it?)

Your truck is doing just great; I went ahead and had a whole tune-up done by a professional (rather than "Greasy Bob") and he told me that he's never seen a vehicle get as much VALUE from their Tune-up as we did. Every single "We'll inspect your ______ and replace it if needed" part of the Tune-Up was indeed replaced, and he showed me the small pile of decaying automotive artifacts that had been replaced at no additional charge. It looked like a shovel-full of the debris that was left over after your shop burned down! Who would have thunk that spark plugs could just kind of *disintegrate* like that after only 30-some years??? I should have taken pictures.

Mom and Beth are doing just fine, and they even came over on Wednesday for a visit! Travel is tough for Mom, as it's the first time in 40-some years that she's gone anywhere without you or without needing to get home to be with you, but she's making it! Baby steps, one step at a time, but by golly she's making it :)

Beth has turned your shop into a little apartment and it looks GREAT! I seriously think you would have approved, even though there's not much room for making wine or sauerkraut any more due to the bed being in there. But at least it gives Beth a "Neutral Corner" to retreat to between sparring rounds, which is good for the sanity of both her AND Mom. Oh, and Leah (Beth's daughter, remember?) had her baby so you're a Great-Grandpa again! Congratulations!

Jan has requested a Picnic out at Bowman Bay on your Birthday this year, and I think that's a great idea! It's a potluck and I was having trouble deciding which of your favorite things to bring - Oysters, Salmon, Clams, or something else - but Mom came to the rescue and suggested that I make *MY* favorite of your dishes, your Lasagna. HOW PERFECT! Nobody makes Lasagna like my Dad makes lasagna - LITERALLY! With cream cheese, sour cream and American Processed Cheese Slices, it's always a surprise! Think I'm going to make one WITH hamburger and one without...

So, uhm... I have to admit that, uhm... the other morning I was in Starbucks and started crying about how much I miss you. They had a Breakfast Sandwich in their little display case and it reminded me of how you taught me how to cook, and how breakfast sandwiches were the main thing we cooked at first. Well, that and SOS. You could (and did) turn ANYTHING in to a sandwich!

I miss that.

Anyways, I should get going... I have to help Molly get ready for her Talent Show and get off to work!

Love you!

Brian
