captain_slinkyThis morning was a goldmine of domestic situation hilarity! First of all, my darling wife forgot to take the Fruit Salad that I had stayed up to make for her potluck to work with her. No problem, I can deliver later, but how stereotypically sit-com is that! But wait, it gets better!
Just as Molly and I were on our way out the door to go to school (three minutes ahead of schedule, btw), she turns to me and says "Oh, right... today is the FIELD TRIP! I'm supposed to bring a DISPOSABLE LUNCH". And so began a last-minute frantic search for a brown paper sack (instead of the Frozen Lunchbox), a water bottle (instead of the Hello Kitty thermos) and a lunch she could just toss at the end of the day (instead of the cute rice-and-edamame bento box I had prepared).
I have never created a good looking lunch so fast in all my life. Ham & Salami Sandwich, two oranges, water bottle, fruit snacks, carrots and a Twinkie in a brown paper lunch bag that, quite frankly, I didn't think we had.
(A far cry from the last-minute lunches my parents would prepare, which could be a plastic safeway bag with a ziploc baggie full of spaghetti, a mostly empty 2-liter bottle of Coke and a half-pack of GPC Menthol Light 100's).
I am proud :)
