PayPal Credit tried to charge me over $225 on a four-month one-dollar balance, the bastards! I called them and had them remove all the bullcrap, but here's how it went down:
In NOVEMBER, I bought a $200 tablet on Ebay. I had around $190 in my PayPal account at the time and needed to buy it *NOW*, and they had that bright-and-shiny "Get $10 Off This Purchase If You Use PayPal Credit" logo on there. It also offered "No payments and no interest for SIX MONTHS", so I decided to go for it. As soon as the transaction was complete, I paid off as much of the credit card balance as possible and signed up for an automatic monthly payment, which brought my balance down to just over a dollar (a buck-nineteen if I remember correctly), figuring that I could pay off a dollar within 6 months.
Unfortunately, the PayPal Credit Computer didn't agree. The PayPal Credit Computer decided that I did not qualify for the six-month deal. The PayPal Credit Computer decided that starting on December 25th I was PAST DUE. A $35 Late Fee was added to my $1 outstanding balance and interest started accruing at the bargain rate of 20%. January 25th, ANOTHER $35 late fee and compounded interest rate. February, again, $35 and compounded interest. March 25th they finally sent me a notice saying "Hey your account is several months overdue, we're sending you to collections if you don't call us".
I called.
I yelled.
I screamed.
They removed the fees.
I paid off the one dollar balance.
Bastards.
