One of my (all-growed-up-with-kids-of-his-own) Nephews sent me a message last night to let me know that he is going to DISNEYLAND this summer, and wanted to know if I have any "tips" for him. He obviously has no idea what brand of Can Of Worms he has just opened :)

So first of all, I *LOVE* GIVING DISNEYLAND TIPS TO PEOPLE!!! However, there is a checklist of information that I need in order to complete such a request:
  • Please confirm for me that you are going to Disneyland (in California), and not Disney World (in Florida). The reason I am a Disneyland Nerd is because I am SHOCKED by the amount of people out there that have no idea that there is a difference, and even a portion of those people who think they are both the same thing! Like, they always knew that Disney was either in California or Florida, but had no idea that it was two different parks! I have no tips for Disney World (Florida) other than to see if you can trade your tickets in for a trip to Disneyland in California.
  • Is this your first trip?
  • Including yourself, how many adults and children are going? Also, ages of those involved.
  • When are you going, and for how long? Be as specific as possible, including any days of your stay that you will NOT be going to Disneyland (Business meeting on Thursday, need to go visit family, etc).
  • Do you already have your flight and hotel booked?

Every vacation at Disneyland is wonderful, but with this information, I can give you everything you need to know in order to have an INCREDIBLE, MAGICAL vacation in The Happiest Place On Earth :)

Going to DISNEYLAND in CALIFORNIA.
My first trip as an adult without family. (Been once before, 20 years back.)
Two adults.
Two or three days enough to see it all? Likely after school starts in the fall.
Nothing else is booked.

OoOOOoOh, I'll get on *your trip* as soon as I'm done with my Nephew's trip :) Three days in September should be just fine :)

Followup question: If you had to choose *one* discipline for your Disneyland trip, would you choose Frugal, Convenient or Luxury? They'll all be included, mind you, but certain considerations need this guiding phraseology...

Yay, LJ is working right for me again!

Anyway, I'm not currently planning a trip. But I did get a tip from the train conductor about the Lily Belle. He said that only a few conductors can bring out the Lily Belle and that they will only do it if the weather is a) not wet and b) not hot. There's no A/C for it, so it gets too hot. Also, the conductors are not obligated to bring it out if they don't feel like doing the tours. So check the weather to see if any of the days of your trip seem like possible Lily Belle days and stop by the train station to ask what days conductors will be working who might take out the Lily Belle. That should give you the best chance at catching a ride on it.

Disney World is fun, but it's a rather different experience. I like both, but in different ways. To do DW right, it takes more time and money. It's a major trip, whereas DL can be a minor trip. If I want a long vacation, it's DW. If I just want 3-5 days, it's DL.

If someone is going to DW, feel free to point them my way. I can ask them a few questions and point them to the relevant info for the trip.
