People were marrying houses even before the ruling. Long term, the only people who will benefit are the divorce lawyers. They now have the opportunity to make twice as much profit.
It's funny how life is imitating art. First it was cel phones (Star Trek communicators), then SKYPE (video phones), then tablets (ST:tNG pads), and now the right to marry someone of the same gender. The first time I came across that was in a sci-fi book. Can't remember the title, but it has been an ongoing trope in a lot of sci-fi/fantasy storylines going back decades. Come to think of it, it has also been in a lot of Star Trek books.
So there you have it.....it's all the fault of James Tiberius Kirk. :D
