From information that can be found HERE...

On October 14th of this year, they plan to release a boxed set of DVD's titled "Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series". 6 Discs, each one just over 3 hours long.

Something I had not realized about this show was that there were only 16 episodes plus a 3-hour "Pilot" movie. How did it get so small? I had always just assumed that there were gazillions of episodes and I had just missed most of them!

Also, you should know the Scifi channel is going to have their own Battlestar Galactica miniseries in December. I'd worry about them ruining a classic...But you really can't have that worry when it comes to a cheesy Star Wars knock-off with bad acting and terrible plots :P

Ya know, I'm not really worried about the Sci-Fi Channel's retooling of the classic. All the recent comic-book movies (X-Men, Spiderman, Blade, Hulk) have all been the same thing as that - a re-working of the classic tales to make them more appealing to today's audience. The classic will always exist no matter WHAT they do in a new version!

It just seems like gazillions of episodes because you kept seeing the same props and stock footage from the series used over and over and over again in other shows. (They had to make their money back somehow.)

I'm looking forward to the Sci-Fi channel remake with both excitment and trepidation. How bad could it be? As bad as the original or worse?
