Lately I've been thinking about how I wish there were someplace where I could write stuff, put it out there for public feedback and NOT have it be seen by anybody who *really* knows me. A place where I can complain about friends and family that would allow others to comment, without my close friends and family actually seeing it.
Then I remembered that the only time any of my close friends and family SEE any of my Livejournal posts is if I choose to 'Share To Facebook". LIVEJOURNAL is what I've been looking for!
Unless I hit that "Share" button, YOU FOLKS are the only ones who will see this - people I know and admire and have even met IRL a fistful of times - and the chances of THAT happening are pretty slim as well, seeing as how most of you admittedly only check your Livejournal page once or twice a month at the most.
But just knowing that you *might* see this? It's comforting :)
It's not like Blogger or Wordpress where people would have to specifically come and read what I have to say - this is a SOCIAL BLOGGING PLATFORM that allows my words to be pushed at each and every one of you via your Friends Feed. All those other blogging sites feel like they're built on conceit. Built on the assumption that eventually SOMEONE will want to specifically come and read what you have to say. Here on LJ, you make *friends* and you write for *them* while writing for yourself.
It's the difference between writing in a journal or diary that you never lock (Gee I hope no one ever reads this *WINK*), and writing to your Prison Pen Pal (I'm writing as if somebody on the other end is actually going to read this eventually, some time between weightlifting and prison riots).
I look forward to meeting with my first ever Professional Counselor next week so we can go through the list of Things You Should Do For Your Mental Health checklist and mark off all the stuff I've already done.
