Hey, remember the cartoon Grape Ape? Of course you do! The adventures of a talking beagle in a 70's Hanna-Barberra van (because ALL 70's Hanna-Barberra cartoons featured the same van with a different paint job) who had befriended a giant purple ape (the Grape Ape) with a taste for grapes.

My pondering today is regarding the Grape Ape. Just how big WAS that damn monkey? Most of the time he could ride Beagley's van like a skate board. Other times hwe was taller than the Empre State Building. And still OTHER times he was barely twice as tall as a football player!

Way I figure it, he must have been made of those Unstable Molecules that the Fantastic Four's costumes are made out of... the stuff that didn't burn up when The Human Torch turned in to flame, stretched proportionately to Mr. Fantastic's stretching abilities, turned invisible for The Invisible Girl, and completely shredded except for the areas covering The Thing's "Thing".

Maybe the Fantastic Four's costumes are woven from pure Grape Ape fur!

Hong Kong Phooey definately had the best theme song of the time, but his actual cartoon always frustrated me. Why couldn't he just listen to his little cat-companion? He could have solved the crimes so much quicker that way.
