Thanksgiving Update

captain_slinkyWell what an... *interesting* Thanksgiving this year. First off, I was guilted in to going to my parents house for Thanksgiving, but not by my parents - it was my Sister-In-Law! She let me know in no uncertain terms that there would be NO excuse accepted for me not showing up there. Forget that I was supposed to be resting up, trying to knock out the last of my Pneumonia/Flu/Cold/Whatever-the-hell-it-was that my Dust Mite alergy had enflamed. Forget that my parents house is the dustiest place on Earth, full of plush furniture and floofy pillows everywhere that are full of Dust Mites that would make my illness flame up again. Forget that I need to be in good health for the job i start on Monday. Nope, none of this would work. I had no choice but to be their, unles I was an ungrateful child who hates his family.
Then, Wednesday night, something new went wrong with our car. We've blown a head gasket and possibly a cylinder. So we got a ride to my Parents house from my Brother. We figured it was just a day trip, but found out at the last minute that it was going to be an over-nighter. Nothing like sleeping in an old bed full of somebody else's dust-mites to make the old respiratory system go in to deep shock!
The food was good.
Decided to get up extra-early to get in on the "Door Buster" sales at WalMart and the likes, but once I got up to the check-out my card was declined. Ends up that it was 6:45, and Crystal's Direct Deposit check didn't post to our account till 7:10. So there went about 5 different holiday gifts down the drain :(
And here I am, happy to be home again. I'm loopy from all the drugs (prescription and otherwise, used to help with the illness), I'm worried about how I'm going to get to work on Monday (they'll probably fire me if I'm not there on the first day, huh?), and pissed that we've spent more than the blue book value of this car just on fixing it every few months. Maybe time to get a new car?
